Remittance and payout software for Polish national payment institutions (KIP)

Polish law lets a KIP that only offers money remittance start with EUR 20,000 of capital, the lowest tier there is. The capital is modest, the daily work is not: every zloty taken in has to be matched to a payout, protected if it is still waiting the next business day and traceable for KNF. That operational layer is what we run.

  • Remittances priced per corridor
  • Payout files with a second approval
  • Each zloty traced to its transfer
  • SEPA Instant and SWIFT payouts

Transfer services a Polish KIP can run

Sending money out of Poland

The sender pays in zloty, picks a recipient abroad and sees the rate, the fee and the amount that will arrive before confirming.

Payouts for platforms and employers

Marketplaces, staffing agencies and gig platforms upload one file or call the API, and the batch is released only after a second person on your team approves it.

FX margins set per currency pair

Price lists hold the spread and fee for each corridor and client group. Opening PLN to EUR for business clients at a different margin is a settings change.

Payment accounts for regular senders

Accounts used only to execute transfers. The balance is shown as money waiting to go out, which keeps the product clear of e-money.

Rejected transfers back to the right sender

Every transfer carries its own status history, so a payment returned by the receiving bank can be traced and refunded without manual searching.

What this licence does not cover

  • Open-ended stored-value wallets. A KIP may issue e-money only in Poland, only with at least EUR 125,000 of capital and only while average e-money outstanding stays under EUR 5 million. Beyond that you need an e-money authorisation.
  • Cross-border transfers as a small payment institution (MIP). That registration covers Poland only, caps monthly volume at an average of EUR 1.5 million and limits funds held per user to EUR 2,000.
  • Lending from the funds customers hand over for transfers.

Dates to plan around

Rules that change what you have to build, in the order they apply.

9 Apr 2027

Polish payment institutions that offer euro credit transfers must be able to receive instant euro payments.

9 Jul 2027

From this date they must also send instant euro payments and offer the payer a payee name check on euro transfers.

10 Jul 2027

The EU Anti-Money Laundering Regulation applies, with one set of due diligence rules for the senders you onboard.

9 Jun 2028

End of the period in which non-euro providers may limit instant euro payments sent outside business hours from accounts held in zloty.

Around 2028

PSD3 and the Payment Services Regulation are expected to apply. Plan for your authorisation to be checked against the new rules.

KNF charges the PLN equivalent of EUR 1,250 when it grants the authorisation and has three months to decide once the file is complete. We bring a transfer platform that already runs and write the technical sections around it.

A remittance service from Kraków

Imagine a team serving people who work in Poland and support family in other countries. Senders pay in zloty by bank transfer into the KIP's collection account. Euro reaches EU recipients over SEPA Instant, and other currencies go out over SWIFT through a connected provider.

To keep the first application small, the team applies for money remittance only, the EUR 20,000 capital tier, and shows KNF how a transfer is priced, protected overnight and released. A year later they plan to add payment accounts for regular senders, which moves them to the EUR 125,000 tier and needs a change to the authorisation.

FAQ

It depends on the services. Money remittance alone needs the PLN equivalent of EUR 20,000, payment initiation EUR 50,000, and any of the other payment services, such as payment accounts or transfers from them, EUR 125,000. Own funds on top of that grow with your volumes.

The PLN equivalent of EUR 1,250 when the authorisation is issued and EUR 400 for most later changes to the authorisation or the register entry. Narrowing your services is free. You also pay an annual contribution towards KNF's supervision costs.

Only for a domestic test. A MIP is registered within three months for a PLN 616 stamp duty and needs no minimum capital under the Act, but it cannot passport, its monthly volume must average no more than EUR 1.5 million and it may hold at most EUR 2,000 per user. A remittance business sending money abroad at scale needs the KIP.

Funds must never be mixed with your own. If they have not reached the payee or the next provider by the end of the business day after receipt, they go to a separate account at a bank or a central bank, or into secure low-risk liquid assets. A bank or insurance guarantee, or insurance from a firm outside your group, can replace that.

No. They cover euro credit transfers. Instant zloty payments run on Express Elixir, operated by KIR, which both the sending and the receiving bank must take part in. In the set-up we support, a KIP reaches it through its settlement bank.

Euro corridors run on SEPA and SEPA Instant. Other currencies go over SWIFT through a connected provider. Which countries you serve follows from your AML risk assessment, and limits can differ per corridor and client type.
